SCHOOL AS IT SHOULD BE

Far Brook School in Short Hills, NJ is a diverse, joyful, and arts-infused private school, serving Nursery (preschool age 3) through Grade 8.

Every day, school is an adventure at Far Brook, which is why we genuinely believe that it is “school as it should be." Our progressive program is grounded in nature, academic excellence, and an educational approach that inspires children to become changemakers.

What makes Far Brook different?

Centered on Experience

Centered on Experience

A hands-on environment makes learning stick. That’s why our teachers craft experiences that allow students to uncover knowledge on their own. Rather than regurgitating facts, a Far Brook education is a creative process of discovery, making mistakes, and curiosity.

Grounded in Nature

Grounded in Nature

Instead of hallways, Far Brook has outdoor pathways. Our 9.5-acre wooded campus is utilized as both an extension of classroom spaces and as part of the curriculum.

Focused on Social Justice

Focused on Social Justice

The Far Brook community is intentionally diverse in all ways. Our focus on building a sense of identity and empathy with our youngest learners grows into conversations around justice with our older students.

Immersed in the Arts

Immersed in the Arts

Here, the arts are just as important as the academics. All our students are required to participate in everything from art class, music theory, and choir, to drama, woodshop, and more.

"I feel like we have a partner in raising our daughter. The teachers go out of their way to know her because they care. We can’t sing the praises of Far Brook more."
